Firefly's stardom was because she was the lead actress in Whedon's subsequent TV series, Firefly. Summer Glau's River Tam character was complex and Glau dealt with it well. The character of Summer Glau, Tam was compelled to take part in government-sponsored tests so that she could be prepared to play the perfect assassin. Tam had difficulty learning to regulate her emotions, as a result. On Firefly Glau was able to show off not only her acting abilities but also her fighting skills. Glau could fully utilize her athletic talent since she was preparing to become an assassin. Her classical education makes her a highly accomplished ballerina. Her broken toe marked the end of her career as an actress. Firefly was only on for the duration of one episode, but was a huge hit with its fans. Whedon was so passionate about it that he returned back to the show several years later. Summer Glau kept on getting an excellent job. She has appeared on television shows such as Cold Case or CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.
